Distribution and supply companies
If you live and work in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, your water and electricity is supplied to you by either Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC) or Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC)
AADC supplies water and electricity to consumers in the Al Ain municipality area and ADDC supplies water and electricity to consumers in the rest of the Emirate.

ADDC and AADC are both authorised by the Bureau to conduct their business of distributing and supplying water and electricity under a "Water and Electricity Distribution and Supply Licence". As described in the title of their licences, each company has two arms to their business:

  • the distribution arm of the business: undertakes planning, development, construction and maintenance of their electricity cable and water pipe network, the operational management of the network and also provides customer connections and customer metering equipment; and
  • the supply arm of the business: undertakes the purchase of electricity and water for sale on to customers, managing the reading of customer meters, customer billing, collection of bill payments and maintenance of customer records.
