Industry Codes
The Technical Section of the Bureau is responsible for establishing and monitoring the technical principles on which the Abu Dhabi water and electricity sector operates. These principles are based on the relevant Articles of Law No(2) of 1998, as amended.

Industry Codes

The Codes are designed to allow operation of the Water and Electricity Distribution and Transmission systems in the water and electricity sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. They also provide controlled connection arrangements at the entry and exit points. Licencees are required to comply with the relevant code conditions.

The Codes mainly consist of the following parts:

Code General Conditions

That describe provisions of general application and include requirements and arrangements not otherwise referred to in the Codes including the role and constitution of The Code Review.

Panel Planning Code

Which provides generally for the supply of demand data by Users in order for TRANSCO to undertake the planning and development of the System.

Connection Code

Which describes the connection conditions criteria which must be complied with at Connection Sites and by Users already connected to or seeking new connections with the System.

Operating Code

Which is split into a number of sections. These principally deal with the forecasting of short and medium term Demand, production requirements (for routine operation and outage planning), safety co-ordination, maintenance , operational liaison, contingency planning, start-up and shut-down of plant and numbering and nomenclature of plant and apparatus.
